When we think about communication, we often focus on three things: what is said, to whom it’s said, and the tone of how it’s said. Yet, we rarely consider the role of silence—how it shapes our understanding of one another and the world around us.
This program invites participants to explore their relationship with silence and its impact on their interactions, both at work and in their personal lives. We examine silence as a form of listening, as an intentional action, and as something that can be interpreted in various ways. By the end of the program, participants will gain a fresh perspective on when, how, and why to embrace silence to enhance communication and connection.
In this program, workshop participants will:
- Define and understand silence as it manifests in dialogue.
- Recognize how silence influences the words around it.
- Learn to use silence pro-actively.
- Probe into the relationship between silence and dignity.
- Consider intentionality with silence.
- Understand silence as action.
